Chubby the Dog stayed with us while his Mom and Dad were in Comox. It was an excellent test run to remind us why we don't want a dog. Don't get us wrong - Chubby was great. He only ate one of Emily's blocks, and it still looks like a block. And the amount of hair shed over the four days wasn't that bad. And taking him out for one or two runs a day was not a problem either. Doing that on a daily basis for a dozen years is just not something we want to do, though.
Truthfully, life with Chubby was a lot of fun. Over the last eighteen months Greg has learned that men with babies are chick magnets. This weekend, though, we learned that anyone with a dog is a kid magnet. We would let Chubby run all over the hill sniffing out gophers. When we put him on the leash all of the kids would flock. Yes, we did let him run off leash, which is against the city by-laws. However, it was very easy to get him to come back. All we had to do was call his name and pretend to look in a gopher hole. Chubby would come barreling over to investigate.
Emily loved Chubby; he tolerated her. She would walk over to him to pet him, and he would walk past her to get away. All she could manage was a single swipe down his back, which was fine with Chubby. And she learned that he could help her out, as you will see in the video. I typically sweep the floor every other day, and wash it a couple times a week. That was not necessary with Chubby around! Have a peek.
She just wanted to share!!!
