For those of you who haven't heard, we have a new nephew - Corbin Anton Stajniak. He is Martin and Dawn's son. He weighs 8 lbs 1 oz and is just over 21" long.
Yes, it has been a bit of a whirlwind around here lately. Martin and Dawn came up to Regina on Tuesday (25th) for her 41 wk appointment, hoping to be induced. The hospital won't induce until Day 10 overdue, which was Wednesday, and so they stayed overnight in the city with us so they could be on call for Wednesday's induction.
Little Corbin didn't give the hospital a chance to call, as Dawn went into labour around 3 am on Wednesday morning. Martin and Dawn departed for the hospital at 8 am. We didn't hear anything until Martin's 10:30 pm phone message saying that the baby had been born by c-section at 9:21 pm. For these reasons I like to think that he takes after his Daddy - a procrastinator and a home-body.
Chad and I headed to the hospital Friday afternoon to meet Corbin. Dawn and Martin brought him to the family room to see us. My pictures and video don't show it very well, but Corbin has a super strong neck. While Martin was holding Corbin upright, the little guy was swinging his head all around to look at everything around him. Corbin also likes to be held. When he is laid down, he starts fussing. For that reason, Martin has been spending the nights at the hospital, holding Corbin and helping Dawn so that she can get some sleep.
Both Mom and Corbin are doing well. Corbin is an aggressive little guy when it comes to nursing. If all goes well, the new family may head home to the farm today.
