This was probably a much better decision all along. Emily's eczema has run rampant over her belly, arms and legs. She hasn't slept well for almost a month. Kenosee, in hindsight, was a much better decision - it is closer to home and normalcy.
We left on Tuesday and spent two nights in the campground. Our activities included a Kenosee Cubs baseball game, a short hike, the waterslides and beach and a round of golf.
Emily loved the waterslides, and actually preferred to go down the long runs rather than the kiddie slides. How do we know? She kept pointing and grunting at them. I also loved the slides, running up the hill to get in more runs. The slides have changed since we were young - the free fall and moguls (?) runs are only open for short intervals at various times during the day. Not enough people visiting the park?
Greg booked a round of golf on Thursday afternoon. While he was there, Emily and I played at on the park's play structure. We met Greg after his 9th hole, then returned to the beach. I made sandcastles while Emily smashed them. Then we ventured into the water. I was very surprised that Emily liked walking in it, since she's not a big fan of walking on sand. She was able to share a girl's buckets, and managed to completely douse herself while pouring water on the foam that collected at the water's edge.
Greg's golf game ended just as the rain started to fall. We drove through rain on our way home.
A note about Emily's eczema: It is irritating her so much that we need to take her for a stroller ride or a ride in her carrier to get her to fall asleep. If we don't walk her, she scratches so much that she does not settle down to sleep at nap or night time.
