Emily's Eczema

Emily has had red and rough patches on her elbow each winter, but this winter the backs of her knees were also red. We though it was a mild case of eczema until June. That's when the eczema spread all over her legs. She started having trouble falling asleep at nap time. She was too busy scratching to relax and fall asleep. I would put her in the stroller and take her for a walk. Then she started having a hard time falling asleep at night. Again stroller rides. Then the eczema spread to her belly and back, and middle-of-the-night stroller rides became necessary.

The eczema seems to have died down - her belly and back no longer look like ground beef. We have received lots of welcome advise from people - olive oil, vaseline, neem cream, George's cream, etc. At this point vaseline seems to be doing the trick.

Here are a few pictures from the first week in July. Auntie Angeline stayed at the farm after the reunion, and she gently scratched Emily's back. Needless to say, she became Emily's best friend.
