Emily is (almost) seven months

Looks like Emily should have her own frequent flier card, since she will have had her third plane ride before her seventh month. We leave for Newfoundland tomorrow, and Emily turns seven months on Sunday.

She was weighed at the public health office this morning, and tipped the scales at 14 lbs. 15 oz., which puts her between the 10th and 25th percentile. This is par for the course. Her little cousin Eli, who weighs in at over 12 lbs. is definitely gaining on her!

As you will see in the picture, she is able to sit up unassisted. She sometimes will tip backwards if she tries to look behind her, but is otherwise incredibly stable. That said, she still cannot roll from back to belly. Anytime she is put on her belly, she quickly rolls off. Perhaps she hates being on her belly that much.

Emily has proven to be incredibly distractible. If Greg says anything when Emily is nursing, she will immediately turn to see him. And grin. Fun for Greg. Ouch for Connie. This trait made today's picture session incredibly time consuming. After 20 pics of her attacking her stuffed animals, there was finally one that was smiley and blog-worthy.

Yes, Emily loves smiling. It is an awesome barometer. She wouldn't smile for us on Sunday night and, sure enough, Uncle Chad touched her forehead and reported that she had a fever. The fever is gone now, and the smiles have returned.

Emily started talking last weekend. She really wasn't much of a coo-er, but she is now playing with some vowels and consonants. There is definitely a ba-ba in there, but perhaps it is an by-product of all the raspberries she blows.

Have a great ten days. We return on the evening of Father's Day.
