Halloween in BC

We traveled to Vancouver for Halloween weekend this year. On our first night we stayed with Greg's former coworker, Colin, and his partner, Jerian. They have two children, Oliver and Sabrina. They live in a house that is likely half the size of ours, but probably more than twice the cost. Both kids are older than Emily, Oliver is 3 1/2 and Sabrina is 2 1/2. The kids played so well together! Colin was a wonderful host, picking us up from the airport, but also driving us right to Sunday's football game.

Although the Riders lost, the game was a huge success for Emily. We thought the crowd noise would spook her, but it never did.

The game was on the 31st, so she wasn't the only one in costume. However, she possibly received more compliments than most. We arrived in time to watch the Riders enter their dressing room after the warm up. Geez, some of those guys are huge! We sat at the top row of our section beside a father-daughter pair of Regina-born, BC-raised Rider fans. They were wearing their gear, and were excited to tell us that they would be flying to Regina for the western semi-final.

We tried to get Emily on TSN, but to no avail. We paraded her up and down the steps of our section with her 'GO' and 'RIDERS' signs, but the play wasn't deep in our end until the second half when she was ready to roam. While on the prowl, we ran into a drunk Rider fan at a beer wagon who insisted on painting green/white/black stripes on our cheeks. He was very gentle with Emily, so her stripes didn't show up.

Other than that, we visited the Vancouver aquarium, Gastown, Stanley Park, the Olympic flame site and did some shopping.
