What a mess!

We tried to start Sophie on solids (pablum) when she turned six months. This is what all the doctors and public health nurses seem to recommend these days. However, Sophie doesn't seem to be interested in pablum. If she's not pushing it out with her tongue, she is spitting it out. Consequently, we have been putting her pablum in her bottles so that she gets the iron that she needs at this age.

We have more luck with giving her whole foods. It means that we have to be a little more attentive to the size of that food so that she doesn't choke, but she seems to be doing quite well with it so far. We use her nuby chewer for messy foods like pears, but she does quite well at picking up chunks of chicken and cheerios on her own.

Update, Dec. 2: Sophie is eating pablum! After three days of eating cheerios, she has learned how to swallow!
